Muscles!

So the muscles is coming along nicely! I made the eyes, ears and nose first, and then I started to put muscles in his face. Then continued down to the neck, shoulder and back/front.

This is as far as I am now.

Skeleton block out

So the skeleton is done! At least the block out.
What's left?

Well, I have to make it high poly and retopologize the skeleton. When that is done, I will need to apply all the muscles to the body. So the plan is now to start drawing the muscles to get a better understanding and then apply it to the model.

Lower Skeleton

Sculpted the lower part of the skeleton.
The first picture is of the "Os Femoris" combined with the "Patella", "Tibia" and the "Fibula".
The lower picture is of the foot. The techniques I used are dynamesh, and slize tool to slize the different parts in to different polygroups.

Pelvic Bone

So I have started modelling the skeleton. And here is a quick video of me sculpting the Pelvis bone.
I started out with shadowbox, which is a nice feature in zBrush. Basically  you mask out the form, and than it project it into a mesh. I have no particulate experience with it, but so far it works quite well!I later converted it to dynamesh, which means I am able to do whatever, without thinking about any form for topology. Which is very nice. I used reference from a book/Journal in the "Leonardo Collection" Anatomy for Artists.

I think this is a very good workflow, and to quote Steven Lord "Today's zbrush artist are getting lazy. Remember that you as an artist/sculptor have to train the eye-hand coordination" Which is so true! With all the tools and support that zbrush offer, makes it difficult to think about something as obvious. How did the traditional painters or sculptors get amazing? Well, the eye-hand coordination is one of the reason!

Skull

Here is the block-out for the skull. More details and texture will be applied later, but for now, this is more than enough. I am quite happy with my result, and I am looking forward to work further more on this project. I have a lecture at 12, but I have decided to dedicate this day for skeleton sculpting. I hope, to block-out the whole skeleton by the end of the day, but I don't know if I will be able to achieve it.

This skull was made before I started the blog. In the next post. I will show what I have done today!
